Australian Workplace

We believe people experience work in Australia very differently from elsewhere in the world. Many skilled and professional migrants arriving in Australia find themselves excluded from the workforce because of a lack of knowledge and understanding of Australian English pronunciation and idiom, and of customs and expectations regarding behaviour.

Research conducted by the Employment Skills Centre at the Adult Multicultural Education Services (AMES) in Melbourne found that individually tailored support programs incorporating relevant information about Australian work culture made a breakthrough for people seeking work commensurate with their qualifications, experience and abilities.
