Employment Rights and Responsibilities in Australia

This document explores several different approaches to rights and responsibilities at work. All start with the understanding that employment is a contract (written, verbal and/or implied) between boss and worker that involves an exchange of labour for money.

Employment distinguishes itself from slavery by being voluntary and from master/servant traditions by regulation and more egalitarian customs–it is an arrangement between a business entity and an individual, while sub-contracting is between two business entities.
